Georgia Gayle fired in 28 points on the opening night of the new WBBL season to help Sheffield Hatters to victory on their return to action.
The GB guard knocked down six triples in a first WBBL appearance since 2017 – having been in America and overseas last season in Spain as the Hatters withdrew from competing.
Gayle top scored in Sheffield’s 94-53 triumph against Nottingham Wildcats before the group hosts followed that with another dominant win over Manchester Met Mystics to advance to the semi-finals of the WBBL Cup.

It was also a first appearance in any WBBL comp since the 2017 playoffs.
