Surrey Scorchers have added top prospect Cameron Hildreth from NBL Division 1 side Worthing Thunder for the remainder of the season.
The Wake Forest commit will get to test himself against pros to continue his development under the tutelage of Creon Raftopoulos.
“I’m really excited to be here,” Hildreth said.
“Being here is very exciting for me and it’s a chance to prove myself and develop alongside Tony (Hicks) and Connor (Cashaw) – they are going to be good mentors for me on and off the court.
“Being in the BBL is going to be good for my future before I go to Wake Forest.
“Competing with BBL players who have played at a Division One level will help me be prepared for when I get out there – competing with Connor and Tony every day is great for me because they played at the Division One standard.
“Creon is a really nice guy and he’s going to be really helpful for me in the next couple of months.”
Hildreth, who averaged 20 points, six rebounds and three assists as a 17-year-old in NBL D1 last season, has also been included with the GB Senior Men’s squad.
Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos added: “I’m very excited. Danny Hildreth reached out to me and wanted to help Cam because Elite Sport for Under 18’s cannot go ahead.
“We were more than happy to help out with him coming into the gym with us. Once he was in the gym and started working out with the guys, he liked the competition of going up against former Division One players.
“Both Cam and Danny felt that this was the best place for him to be to continue his preparations for Wake Forest.
“I’m very happy to have a talent like Cam come in, and I’m just one of many coaches that will have played a part in his journey.”
