JACDONMI EAGER TO KEEP TOWERING ABOVE

Boban Jacdonmi insists he is happy to share the spotlight with team-mate Ron Delph if it guides Glasgow Rocks into the BBL playoff mix.

The young Londoner outshone his American colleague with 18 points in Sunday’s win over Sheffield that moved the Scots off the foot of the table.

Gareth Murray’s bid to reshuffle his pack meant Delph moving into the starting line-up, where he is expected to remain.

But Jacdonmi believes the centre duo can be the Rocks’ Twin Towers and an effective one-two punch.

“Even though it might seem like we’re fighting for one position, at the end of the day it doesn’t matter who starts,” he said.

“If it’s Ron, that’s fine. If it’s me, that’s great. Whoever is on the court, all I care about is us winning and being effective when we’re out there.

“We’ve spoken about our roles in practice, and how we can prepare each other. Ron was maybe surprised to start against Sheffield after seeing how I’ve been playing. But last week, we really pushed each other so we were both ready to contribute. Because you want to practice as you play and we both want to make each other better.”

Following a slow start, the 24-year-old has given increasing glimpses into his immense potential with Jacdonmi ever more adapt at making his presence known on his return to British hoops from his spell in the NCAA.

“Transitioning from college to being a professional was definitely tougher than expected,” he said. “But as the games have come along, I’ve felt like I’ve gained more confidence.

“We’ve almost played every team in the league so I’m learning what to expect. As we continue, I’m getting more knowledgeable.

“And playing under Gareth is great for picking his brain and learning things in practice. He’s been good with constructive criticism and that’s made me more comfortable with each week.

“Because every game you meet someone with a new skillset, or talent, or view of the game. As a rookie pro, I need to realise how to go up against each person. Knowing their strengths and my weaknesses, I need to analyse things more.”
