- National Teams
The British Basketball Federation (BBF), has been awarded up to £180,000 by UK Sport for the GB Senior teams to help lessen the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The move will help support the GB Senior men and women’s squads in their forthcoming international home games, scheduled for November.
The money has been awarded from a £1.38million Continuity Fund established by UK Sport to help national governing bodies mitigate the operational and financial impact of the pandemic.
“I am delighted that our application to UK Sport has been successful,” Maurice Watkins CBE, Chair of British Basketball Federation, said.
“This additional funding comes at a vital time as our senior teams prepare for international home games. We are extremely grateful to UK Sport for looking on our bid favourably.
“Basketball is a vital and ever-growing part of the sporting landscape across England, Scotland and Wales. We have been on an important developmental curve over the last two years with both our senior programmes showing substantial improvements in their performances.
