STEEL STRENGTHENS PONFERRADA

Great Britain guard Josh Steel has signed for Spanish LEB Silver side Ponferrada.

The 23-year-old averaged 11 points per game in the same division for Fragata Moron last term, his third in the country.

“I’m really keen to keep progressing and to help the team win,” he said.

London Lions have re-signed American centre Kervin Bristol for a second spell from Ukraine’s Mykolaiv.

Lions are also poised to land Ukrainian-Israeli power forward Anton Shoutvin – who played for Vienna in the Austrian League last season – according to reports in the Israeli media.

Elsewhere, Glasgow Rocks have penned a one-year deal with French centre Marc Kwedi, who joins from Le Havre.

The 22-year-old is set to plug the gap left by Ali Fraser and Maxime D’jo Abala’s moves in the opposite direction.

And Rocks player-coach Gareth Murray believes Kwedi can seize an opportunity to shine in his youthful new-look line-up.

He said: “Marc has the strength and low post presence and the ability to protect the basket and defend multiple positions.

“He has played the last two years in France NM1.  As you can tell from the type of players I have signed, Marc is a young up and coming player that is looking for a bigger role on a team.”

While the club’s former forward Murray Hendry has joined Italian Serie C side ZS Messina from Serie D Castanea.

Cheshire Phoenix re-signed former GB Under-20 guard Pharroh Gordon.
