Kofi Josephs has received a late re-call to the GB Senior Men’s squad as an injury replacement ahead of EuroBasket 2017 starting on Friday.
The Birmingham-born forward was one of the final cuts to the roster in preparation, but is now heading to Istanbul, Turkey after Carl Wheatle was ruled out with a knee injury.
“It feels great to make the EuroBasket squad, especially having had no National Team experience from juniors,” Josephs told Hoopsfix.
“It’s been a goal of mine for some time to get this sort of recognition. I’m excited to be a part of the team and help in any way I can.
“Training camp was fast-paced, but I feel I’ve improved in many areas.”
He added on Wheatle: “It’s sad what happened to Carl, he’s like a little brother [to me] – he had a great year and summer and I know he’ll come back better than before.”

Josephs impressed in the German fourth tier this past season with a couple of huge games including a 51-point outing back in March.
