Eilidh Simpson Signs in WBBL with Cardiff Met Archers

Eilidh Simpson is heading to the WBBL for the 2017-18 season after signing for Cardiff Met Archers, it was announced today.

The 24-year-old becomes the latest GB international to head to the WBBL with Janice Monakana confirmed as Nottingham Wildcats’ new recruit earlier today.

“I think I’ll really fit into the Archers programme and I’m really looking forward to getting started and it sounds like we are going to have a strong team,” said Simpson.

“The WBBL has some great players and I think it will be a very competitive season, so I am counting down the days until I get the jersey on.

“Cardiff really excites me and I’ve heard great things from people that have lived here. I also love hiking and the Welsh coastline sounds great too.”

Simpson played for Santa Adria in Spain’s top-flight last season, averaging 6.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in 29 appearances.

The 5’7″ guard impressed with the GB Senior side in Belarus earlier in the summer and was part of the squad that missed out on qualification for EuroBasket 2017.

Simpson will play alongside and under international team-mate, Stef Collins, who is the club’s player-coach.
