Carl Wheatle has agreed to return for another season in Italy with A2 side Pallancestro Biella, the club announced.
The 19-year-old forward recently helped GB Under-20s secure promotion back to Division A and has been with Biella since signing a four-year deal in 2013.
Wheatle broke into the first team last season, competing in the Italian second division and finished with averages of 4.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game with a season-high of 29 points.
“I never doubted I wanted to stay,” Wheatle told the club’s website.
“Since my arrival in Italy, I’ve grown up a lot and want to continue this journey.
“I know how an athlete can improve in so many aspects and I feel at this point in my career, Biella is the right place to do it.
He added: “It was an honour to represent my nation at the European Under-20’s in Romania – we came third, completed our goal of promotion and that was down to great team-work.”
Wheatle earned a first call-up to the GB Senior side and heads into camp looking to make the final 12-man squad for EuroBasket.
He averaged 10.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game during the Under-20 European Championships including a triple-double outing against Azerbaijan.
