Luke Nelson has been named Big West Player of the Year after leading UC Irvine to the regular season title.
The senior guard netted 29 points in the final game decider against UC Davis and becomes the first Anteater to win the award in 15 years.
Nelson averaged 17.3 points per game in conference play and helped UCI win 12 of the 14 games he played in.

The former GB U20 guard also became his school’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made and ranks eighth in scoring (1,467) as well as fifth in assists (395).

Nelson and UCI start the Conference Tournament on Thursday with UC Riverside their first opponents.
