Brits Abroad Round-up – Week 9

Matthew Bryan-Amaning helped keep Soles (13-1) flying at the top of the LNBP in Mexico after scoring 17 points in a 107-81 victory, before contributing 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals in a following 95-85 triumph over the same team. Aaron Geramipoor had 10 points and nine rebounds in the first of two wins against Fuerza Regia.

Meanwhile, Tafari Toney shone with 21 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, although Abejas fell to a 91-90 loss away from home, with the former BBL big man also producing nine points and five boards in a heavy 120-82 defeat. In Iran, Ryan Richards had a monster double-double after leading Gorgan (6-3) to a 78-61 victory in the Superleague with 27 points and 20 rebounds.

Justin Robinson (pictured) led Trikala (3-5) to an 89-86 victory with 23 points including 5-of-7 from 3-point range in an impressive 22-minute display. Fellow Brit Ovie Soko went 7-of-8 from the line as he added 11 points and seven rebounds to the win. Devon van Oostrum had 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in an all-round effort for Arkadikos (2-6), but they fell to a 74-54 defeat away from home.

In the Greek A2 league, Robert Gilchrist produced a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to lead Peristeri Athens (1-4) to victory as they were beaten 66-68 at home. Fahro Alihodzic pulled down six boards to go with three points in an 87-69 loss for Promitheas (6-3). In Germany, rookie forward Gabe Olaseni made his debut for Giessen 46ers (8-11) and scored 13 points on 6-of-7-shooting in 30 minutes as his new side suffered an agonising 68-69 loss at home in the German BBL.

Dan Clark netted 10 points for Andorra (3-5), but was unable to inspire a second straight victory in the Liga Endesa as his side were edged out 76-72 by UCAM Murcia. Andrew Lawrence saw limited minutes, but managed five points as Gipuzkoa (0-8) missed out on the chance to claim their first win, falling 68-76 at home to Sevilla. In LEB Gold, Ben Mockford scored all of his 15 points from 3-point range, but Caceres (3-7) fell to a 78-60 defeat, while Mo Soluade had 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists as Clinicas Rincon (3-6) lost 71-68 on the road in LEB Silver action.

Ogo Adegboe scored nine points in a 74-86 win for Vanoli Cremona (6-3), in his final game for the club with his contract now expiring having signed a deal until the end of November prior to the start of the season. In Serie A2, Ashley Hamilton had nine points and nine rebounds, but Matera (2-8) suffered another defeat as they lost 90-68 on the road.

Myles Hesson went 1-of-4 from the field for just two points in 14 minutes as Dijon (6-3) returned to winning ways in the Pro-A division in France. In Pro-B, Laurence Ekperigin had eight points and 11 rebounds as Poitiers (1-4) were beaten 72-51 away from home, while Eric Boateng posted six points and 10 boards in a 73-64 loss for Blois (8-2) as they lost their outright lead at the top of NM1. Also, Gareth Murray was in action for Angers (6-4) and contributed seven points and seven rebounds to a 76-74 home success.

Elsewhere, Chris Caird had another big game in Iceland after going for 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a 97-110 defeat for FSU (1-7). In Denmark, Liam Potter netted 10 points in a 77-93 road win for Svendborg (5-5), while Orlan Jackman collected eight rebounds to go with four points in 18 minutes of CAB Madeira’s 66-82 loss at home to Porto as they dropped to a 3-6 mark in the LPB.

Notes: Luol Deng has missed Miami Heat’s last three games with a hamstring injury, and is expected to return, possibly against OKC later this week.
