Gabby Nikitinaite to Replace Injured McGarrachan

Rising star Gabby Nikitinaite has received her first call-up to the Senior Women’s set-up as a replacement for the injured Erin McGarrachan.

The teenager will step in for her fellow WBBL (Women’s British Basketball League) player, after McGarrachan was forced to miss out because of a foot injury sustained early last month.

Nikitinaite is an integral part of the Sevenoaks Suns side which has enjoyed an impressive and unbeaten start to the new WBBL season.

She previously turned heads with her mature contributions for the Suns in the first ever WBBL campaign during 2014-15, when she was in the shake-up for the Molten WBBL Young Player of the Year award.

The invitation to attend camp ahead of the Eurobasket Women 2017 qualifiers against Montenegro and Italy, will also be a welcome birthday present this month for Nikitinaite, who will turn 17-years-old.

She has already played for three successive summers with England, stepping out twice at the U16 European Championship Women and also at U18 level earlier this year.
