Adidas Sign Top Picks Smart & Embiid

Adidas are not wasting time enhancing their growing list of clientèle after announcing the additions of Joel Embiid and Marcus Smart.

The rookie pair were selected as the third and sixth picks respectively and will be playing in Philadelphia and Boston this season.

New Celtics guard, Smart, said: “I couldn’t be happier to make it official, I am now a member of the adidas family.”

This follows the recent deals with Cleveland’s number 1 draft pick Andrew Wiggins as well as Utah Jazz and Australian Boomers point-guard Dante Exum, who was also the fifth pick.

All four have the potential to be stars in the NBA and seem to smart recruitments to join the likes of Derrick Rose, John Wall, Dwight Howard and Damian Lillard already partnered with the brand.

Embiid said: “adidas is a brand I’ve always admired, I’m very happy to join their team as I start my NBA career.”

Adidas have confirmed that the rookies will feature in a number of upcoming initiatives and will play a ‘critical role’ in their development of basketball footwear and apparel.

“Our brand’s momentum with the combination of these top picks and the young, up-and-coming players who are already part of our family is incredible,” said Chris Grancio, adidas head of global basketball sports marketing. “There is no ceiling for what these new partnerships can accomplish and we’re excited to continue building a successful future for these special players and our brand.”
