Top Junior Teams To Face Off at Solent Tourney

Solent Kestrels Pre-Season TournamentSome of the best junior basketball teams in the country will be in Eastleigh, Hampshire this weekend as they prepare for the new season at the second annual ‘Kestrel Guards Trophy’, an under-18 pre-season tournament organised by the Solent Kestrels.

The tournament will feature host team Solent as well as Manchester Magic, Bristol Academy Flyers, Barking Abbey, Reading Rockets and Eanna Basketball from Ireland. Several Junior Internationals are expected to suit up, including the likes of Barking Abbey’s Tyrell Isaacs, Manchester’s Jack Crook and Tamas Okros, and Bristol’s new recruit, Jack Griffiths, in what is likely to be an exciting competition.

Local legend Jimmie Guymon from the Solent Kestrels says, for the teams competing, there are few better ways to prepare for the season:

“This tournament is an important pre-season event and great preparation for the season ahead, for the teams to play against a high standard of opposition in game situations is something that cannot be replicated in training. This is the best way to prepare and will help both the coaches and the players .”

All spectators are welcome and entrance is free. For more information, including a full schedule and location, check out the Solent Kestrels’ official website.
