Manchester Magic Win U13 & U15 National Championships

Manchester Magic further cemented themselves as one of the top basketball programs in the country as they won both the Under 13 and Under 15 National Championships at the Final Fours at Stoke Mandeville Stadium on Saturday.

Under 13’s



For the Under 13’s there was no competition, as they won their semi final against Ipswich Tomcats by 99 points (!), 134-35 and then followed that up with a 67 point victory, 107-40, over Lewisham Thunder in the final.

Manchester guard Recardo Eaton-Barnes was awarded the MVP.

Lewisham edged Notts Nova Centurions in the semis, 57-56, to advance to the final against the Magic.

In the third place playoff, the Centurions defeated Ipswich 76-54 behind Mitchell’s 31 points.

Under 15’s



The Manchester Magic Under 15’s began the day similarly as dominant, beating the Sheffield Junior Sharks 89-57 in the semi final to meet Newham All-Star Sports Academy in the final. Things weren’t quite as easy in the championship game, as the Magic went down at the half 42-34 on NASSA, before clawing out an 83-73 victory behind a 31 point MVP performance from Tamas Okros (1995 born).

NASSA recorded a 9-point win over Northampton Nets in their semi final game, winning 68-59.

The Junior Sharks won the third place playoff, beating the Nets 81-65 after a strong fourth quarter.
