Lawrence, Marcotullio Advance to NIT Quarter Finals
Andrew Lawrence and his College of Charleston advanced to the NIT quarterfinals on Saturday night, defeating Cleveland State 64-56 in the tournament’s second round. Andrew Lawrence played 27 minutes, going 1/2 from beyond the arc for 3 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Charleston will play Wichita State or Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals.
Lawrence wasn’t the only one to make the quarter finals, as Alex Marcotullio’s Northwestern beat Boston College 85-67 to also advance for the first time. The Wildcats (20-13) made 15 of 36 from 3-point range and tied a school record for wins that they set last year. They will play the winner of Monday night’s game between Oklahoma State and Washington State for the chance to reach the tournament’s final four. Alex Marcotullio who remains in the starting lineup, had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in 31 minutes, shooting 4/10 from the field and 1/1 at the line.

SMU got a 63-62 win in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) at Moody Coliseum on Saturday. Myles Luttman registered a DNP. The Mustangs advance to play at Northern Iowa in the CIT quarterfinal round on Monday.
