Notes

  • There seems to be very little method to the Final 16 draw. How the first seed in the North (Durham) playing a 5th placed Premier North team (Edinburgh) can be comparable to the first seed in the South (Oxford) taking on a 2nd placed Midlands Conference 1A team (Coventry) I don’t know.
  • On that note, how is it a second placed lower league team has qualified for the Final 16 anyway?
  • Due to the nature of BUCS basketball, it is near impossible to seed these games accurately. Yes, teams from lower leagues ‘should’ be weaker, but a team can change so drastically in the space of a year, there are some disproportionately stronger teams in lower leagues. None of the top seeds should take their draw as a given, BUCS basketball is good for upsets!
  • I have received no response to my email to BUCS asking if they could outline how the selection process works.

What are your thoughts on the draw? Who are you predicting to see in Sheffield in March? Drop a comment and let us know!
