Will Neighbour Signs to UALR

6’10” GB U20 Will Neighbour has signed a letter of intent to attend NCAA Division 1 University of Arkansas Little Rock (UALR).

The versatile forward, who currently attends JUCO Daytona State in Daytona Beach as a Sophomore, originally signed with UALR out of high school (Central Park Christian) but his international transcripts didn’t translate to eligibility (according to Burn the Horse).

UALR’s Head Coach Steve Shields is excited about the British prospect joining UALR;

“We’re excited about Will becoming the latest addition to our program. He’s an impact player and should be a difference maker at UALR. He’ll bring some much-needed length to our program, as well as an exceptional skill set for a player of his size. He can shoot and pass extremely well, and I fully expect him to develop into an all-conference performer.”

Daytona State College assistant coach Frank Burnell thinks the UALR fans have a lot to look forward to;

“The fans at Arkansas-Little Rock are going to be very pleased when they see Will play. He’s quite a basketball player. Will is the whole package. He’s a complete offensive player and a winner. He led a resurgence down here. He came into a program that had three losing seasons before he got here, and hadn’t had a winning record in conference, and immediately turned us into conference champs.”

He currently has an injury on his non-shooting shoulder and has not played this season. It’s expected he’ll redshirt this season and have three years to play after transferring to UALR.

Neighbour, originally a Solent product, played for Great Britain in the Division B Under-20 European Championships this summer, averaging 15.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game, while shooting 52 percent from the field. SportsIllustrated.com’s Luke Winn ranked Neighbour as the fourth-best player at the event (including both Divisions A and B).
