MUIR OUSTED AT EB AS DONOVAN RETURNS
England Basketball chair Alison Muir has exited the post after a boardroom coup. And she has been replaced by Terry Donovan, who returns to the role for a second spell.
Muir’s removal, described by one senior EB figure as “a vote of no confidenceâ€, comes two months after the long-serving official came under fire for her comments in a FIBA publication where she described the organisation as “littleâ€.
She will now be succeeded by former Birmingham Bullets director Donovan (left) who was previously at the helm from 2003-2008.
“Alison’s made a great contribution since she came on the board in 2006,” said Donovan. “She was very supportive to me then and I’m sure she will be going forward.”
The businessman was elected to FIBA Europe’s Board earlier this year.
Elsewhere, former English international and Los Angeles Lakers forward Steve Bucknall has been confirmed as England’s new Under-18 men’s coach, taking over from Tim Lascelles who stepped down at the end of the summer’s European campaign.
