Great Britain international Olu Babalola has signed for Sheffield Sharks after the Steel City outfit won a battle with Glasgow Rocks for his services, amid a flurry of moves in the BBL.
The London-born power forward, who was a free agent after being released by Cypriot League side Ethna three weeks ago, makes his Sharks debut against former club Newcastle Eagles on Friday night.
Meanwhile, Milton Keynes Lions have signed 41-year-old veteran Shawn Myers. The Trinidadian-born forward will replace Robert Youngblood, who has been released.
Myers, who succeeds Youngblood as the BBL’s oldest active player, was freed by Cheshire Jets in the off-season.
“When it was clear we would need a replacement for Robert I had no hesitation in signing Shawn,†said Lions Head Coach Mike New. “He is strong, big for his position and extremely aggressive on the basketball court. I am sure his style will compliment the team ethos.â€
Youngblood, who previously played for Leopards, had spent six seasons at Milton Keynes, helping the franchise to its only major prize, the BBL Cup.
Elsewhere, Taner Adu has begun a second spell with Essex Pirates. The England international point guard left Plymouth Raiders after only three games following a summer switch from Southend.
