Boateng Dominates in Loss, Brits in the NCAA Recap 11/03/10

Eric Boateng (6′10, 245lbs, C, Senior, London) Arizona State Sun Devils
Stanford surprised second-seeded Arizona State 70-61 in the Pac-10 Conference tournament quarterfinals Thursday night. Boateng killed it in the loss, going 4/4 from the field and 5/8 at the line for 13 points, grabbing 6 offensive rebounds to complete a total of 15 whilst adding 2 assists and 1 block in 31 minutes of play.

Arizona State (22-10) swept the Cardinal during the regular season for the first time since 2004-05. But on Thursday the Sun Devils led just once — by one point early in the second half. The loss hurts their chances of an NCAA bid.

Third-seeded Washington roared back from a big second-half deficit to keep its NCAA tournament hopes alive with a 59-52 victory over Oregon State in the Pac-10 quarterfinals Thursday night.Matthew Bryan-Amaning played 34 minutes going a more than solid 5/6 from the floor (0/1 free throws for 10 points, whilst adding 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Washington (22-9) will face Stanford in Friday’s semifinals as the only non-California school left in the tournament.

Ovie Soko (6′8, 225lbs, F, Freshman, London) UAB Blazers
No. 6 seed Southern Mississippi defeated third-seeded UAB 58-44 Thursday, the second upset in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA tournament. Ovie Soko played 20 minutes, going 1/3 fr0m the field for 2 points and adding 4 rebounds.

The Blazers finished up 23-8 (11-5 C-USA).
