The Essex Pirates beat the Airwaves Plymouth Raiders 79-75 to move off the bottom of the BBL table yesterday afternoon.
Essex had the lead in a low scoring first half, 32-29. A 10-6 burst bought the Raiders right back in to it to start the third quarter, but Taner Adu responded himself with eight points in an 11-4 run by Essex to keep it a 10 point lead.
Essex started the fourth quarter leading 60-53, but the Raiders wouldn’t go away. On 5 separate occasions Plymouth got to within 2 points but couldn’t quite get over the hump.
Pirates were led by Taner Adu’s 25 points, while Florentino Valencia led the Raiders with 24.
