Video: Midnight Madness Leyton Qualifier at The Score

A LOT of people showed up to Midnight Madness East London, at The Score in Leyton. So much so, they had to ask people that had finished playing and spectators to leave for health and safety reasons. The queues were massive and really demonstrated how big Midnight Madness has become in Britain over the past 10 years.

As always with London basketball, expectations were high, and they were most certainly met. In the Under 18s, John Odumosu came out hard with a point to prove and showed his slashing and mid range shooting ability to full effect. Teddy Okereafor was impressive, scoring in a variety of ways extending all the way out to the 3 point line. Andre ‘Soggy’ Taylor bought a couple of nice finishes and Dominic (guy in white shorts screaming in the video-surname?) was finishing impressively. One last shout out goes to Jeffrey Duru who showed glimpses of why he made Midnight Madness Finals night.

The Under 23s were all about Orlan Jackman. The guy almost did nothing wrong, hitting a variety of 3 pointers, mid range jumpers, drives to the hoop and dunks (check out the vid for visuals!). The superstar 16 year old Leon Bennett Harris also impressed in the Under 23s with a gamewinner on the buzzer and a couple of tough finishes. Tom Ward got his shooting stroke going towards the end and showed why he is playing stateside and one last shout out goes to Leigh Cascoe for dropping the nastiest crossover of Midnight Madness 2009!
