Lynch Trophy (2020)

NBL action returns for the 2020-21 season with the Lynch Trophy, a new piece of silverware on offer for teams in NBL Men’s Division One.

The competition – driven by the clubs and being sanctioned by Basketball England – sees all 14 NBL Division 1 clubs, plus invited academy sides Myerscough and Charnwood, compete in the tournament which is sponsored by L Lynch Plant Hire & Haulage.

Opening on the weekend of 10/11th October, there were six games to tip off the event, after two games have been cancelled at Loughborough University due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

In week 2, there were further games cancelled due to COVID-19, with Loughborough University still in lockdown, hosts Loughborough and Charnwood Academy were forced to stay in isolation, whilst Derby Trailblazers’ game with Team Newcastle University was also wiped from the slate.

Heading into Week 3, there are just three games scheduled after more teams are required to self isolate; Oaklands Wolves v Reading Rockets, Nottingham Hoods vs Leicester Warriors, Loughborough v Charnwood, Derby v Bradford and Myerscough v Newcastle were all called off due to COVID-19.
