Kings of the Court 2024 U17s

Five players have been selected as the best Under-17s in the country at Kings of the Court, which took place on Sunday at Brixton Recreation Centre in South London.

Aymen Kraria (Glasgow Rens), Emmanuel Ahamefule (London Elite), Jack Walton (Manchester Magic), Nathan Sherman (London Elite), and Nojus Zajankauskas (London Stars) were the five who have won an all-expenses paid trip to the Hoop Group camp in the USA from 29th-31st July.

Four of the five are in the Great Britain national team programme, with Ahamefule, Walton and Zajankauskas representing the Under-16s last summer, and Kraria the summer before, while Sherman comes in after standing out in the EYBL this season with London Elite.

Nojus Zajankauskas shone in the opening game, going 8 of 10 from the field for his game-high 18 points, with Ahamefule adding 13 points and six rebounds, and Sherman going 5 of 7 for his 11 points.

Then in the final, which they won, Ahamefule had seven points, five rebounds, three assists and five blocks, Zajankauskas had 11 points and seven rebounds, and Sherman had seven points, five rebounds and three assists.

Kraria had 13 points and nine rebounds on 6/9 shooting in his squad’s opener, with Walton having 15, and then in the final, Kraria added 17 points, five rebounds and five assists, with Walton having five points, seven rebounds and 10 assists.

In its second year, the tournament hand picks a group of the top forty under-17s, based on the season plus their own trials, and pits them against each other in two games, with the two winning teams advancing to the final.

The four teams this year were coached by Jeff Danchie, Justin Robinson, Matthew Bryan-Amaning and Wayne Henry.
