London Lions fends off Joventut Badalona

London Lions fended off Joventut Badalona, 76-87, in EuroCup action on Wednesday evening, in what is believed to be the first time a British team has won in Spain,

The Lions came from behind, using a 24-8 second period spearheaded by their defence to take control. Gabe Olaseni dominated in the paint, finishing with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.

The Lions ended their 2 games losing streak in the competition improving their record to 4-2.

“Its a very big satisfaction, despite the injuries Joventut had”, Lions Head Coach Petar Bozic said after the game.

“We did control certain things but all credits go to the players.”

The game was the first match up between both teams since Joventut Badalona brought to an end London Lions’ historic EuroCup campaign last year as they became the first British team to reach the EuroCup playoffs.

Conor Morgan had 12 points and 8 rebounds against his former team. Four London players scored in double figures.

Andrew Andrews led Badalona with 20 points, adding 6 assists to his tally.

The Lions will return to action in the BKT EuroCup against Besiktas Istanbul on November 15th at Bjk Emlakjet Sports&Event Hal at 5pm.
