Glacier Boys successfully defended their Hoopsfix Pro-Am title with a 55-52 triumph against Hoopspace at the Brixton Rec, on Sunday.
GB international Kayne Henry top scored with 13 points to go with six rebounds in the win and was also named as the overall tournament MVP for the event that is sponsored by Contested and Stance.
Denzel Ubiaro had a game-high 21 points in vain for Hoopspace as they led 52-51 inside the final minute on a tough finish from Peter Turay, who added 10 points and eight rebounds.
However, Andre Arissol kept his cool at the line with a pair of free throws to restore the advantage for Glacier Boys before Dan Akin sealed the deal.
Thames Valley Cavaliers bounced back from their semi-final loss last week as they edged out Ankd to finish in third place with a thrilling 62-60 victory. The duo of Kavell Bigby-Williams and Aaryn Rai proved the difference as both finished with double-doubles.
KBW had 18 points at the half on the way to a 24-point haul along with 11 rebounds, while Rai put up 16 & 13 in the win. Ankd made a late rally from a double-digit deficit, but came up short despite 19 points from RJ Eytle-Rock.
OT Boyz overturned a half-time deficit to beat Surrey Scorchers 52-41 to secure a top-five finish. Kyron Martin contributed eight points, four assists and five steals in the win with Ebuka Ekwegh also top scoring with eight points. The Scorchers had 15 points from Brandon Tchouya, but were undone by a 16-2 third quarter.
Vet Status avoided finishing bottom at the 2023 Hoopsfix Pro-Am as they defeated London United 90-71. Jules Dang Akodo led the way with a game-high 22 points along with eight rebounds and five steals in the win. Orlan Jackman added 19 points with Justin Robinson scoring 18 as the duo both went 4 of 7 from beyond the arc.
