Team Sapphire were crowned champions of the 2023 Hoopsfix Pro-Am after beating Team Ruby 55-47 in the final at Brixton Rec, on Sunday.
Kat Goldsby led the winning effort for Sapphire in the Pro-Am, sponsored by Contested and Stance, with 17 points, five rebounds and two assists to help the team defend their title from 2022 with Shequila Joseph adding 10 points, 15 boards and four assists.
Ruby had a game-high 20 points from overall tournament MVP Shanice Beckford-Norton, but they would fall short of claiming the title.
Earlier, Team Emerald emphatically claimed third place with a 68-42 success over Team Diamond behind a huge double-double from Jess Davies. The forward dominated inside with 20 points and 21 rebounds as well as two blocks in the win.
Beth Sarson completed an impressive tournament with a team-high 18 points in defeat, while Kenisha Whyte backed up Davies’ performance with 17 points and eight boards for Emerald. They jumped out to a 22-7 start after 10 minutes and never looked back in a convincing victory.
