Tosan Evbuomwan signs free agent contract with Detroit Pistons

Tosan Evbuomwan has reportedly signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Pistons, according to HoopsHype’s Mike Scotto.

Despite not hearing his name called at the NBA Draft on Thursday night, the NBA dream remains alive, as the contract gives him an opportunity to see NBA minutes.

His journey to make the NBA roster will likely begin at the the NBA 2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 7.

After first attending the NBA G League Elite Camp inside Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois from May 13 until May 14, Evbuomwan extended his stay in the Windy City when he was one of eight NBA Combine invitees from the G League Elite Camp.

From there, he he has gone on to workout for 18 NBA teams.

It’s the culmination of an impressive season at Princeton for Evbuomwan, who led them on a magical March Madness run to the Sweet 16 while accumulating a list of individual accolades.

He was named National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 13 First Team, Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player, Ivy Madness All-Tournament Team, Unanimous Ivy League First Team, Academic All-Ivy League, College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District and London Basketball Classic MVP.

In addition, Evbuomwan’s 161 assists in 2022-23 tied the program record for most assists in a season, and his 323 career assists rank No. 6 on the Tigers’ all-time list for assists. Evbuomwan also joined the 1,000-point club in 2022-23, and his 1,033 points rank No. 34 all-time in school history.
