GB Senior Women final 12 confirmed for EuroBasket

Great Britain’s final 12-player roster for FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2023 has been confirmed ahead of the start of the tournament on Thursday.

Chema Buceta has included a handful of new faces in the lineup including the recently crowned WBBL MVP Kiki Herbert-Harrigan and naturalised guard Sydney Wallace.

“I am sure this team which we have selected after three weeks of practice is going to represent Great Britain very well at EuroBasket,” said head coach Buceta.

Temi Fagbenle has been handed the role of captain as a senior figure, and the only player to feature in GB’s last EuroBasket campaign in 2019 – making it onto the All-Tournament team.

Georgia Gayle has overcome a facial injury to make the squad as one seven WBBL-based players including London Lions star Holly Winterburn, who will have an important role in the backcourt.

Erin McGarrachan and Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby also have previous EuroBasket experience having been part of the GB side that competed in the 2015 edition in Hungary.

There is also a return to the senior setup for Savannah Wilkinson having completed her college career with 19-year-old Ire Ozzy-Momodu recently making a senior debut.

Kirsty Brown, Gabby Nikitinaite, Shequila Joseph and Robyn Lewis were the quartet to miss out from training camp with GB losing all four of their prep games away in the Czech Republic and France.
