Sheffield Hatters II complete perfect season with WNBL D2 Playoff title

Sheffield Hatters II claimed their second WNBL Division 2 playoff crown in as many years as they defeated City of Birmingham Rockets 77-57 to complete a perfect season on Saturday at the NBPC in Manchester.

Sarah Cooney dominated in every facet of the game to claim MVP honours, finishing with 36 points, 11 rebounds, eight steals and seven assists despite battling with foul trouble as Sheffield led from the opening tip to the final buzzer, extending their lead to as many as 27 in the process.

Former GB Senior internationals Steph Gandy and Lisa Riches provided ample support with 15 points, eight rebounds and 5 assists and 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals respectively for Sheffield.

Catarina Seixas with 16 points and Fabienne Zere with a 13-point, 13-rebound double double led the way for the Rockets.
