GB U16 captain Katie Cox joins Sevenoaks Suns

GB Under-16 captain Katie Cox has joined Sevenoaks Suns for the upcoming season to get a first chance of playing in the WBBL.

The talented ’06-born averaged 10.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game whilst representing GB at the FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship in Podgorica, Montenegro.

Cox had a best of 21 points against Netherlands in the tournament and now joins up with the Suns for the 2022-23 campaign.

“We’re excited to have Katie join us from Richmond Knights,” said Len Busch. “She’s an exciting prospect and we are looking forward to working with her on her development journey.”

Cox added: “I’m very excited to join the Suns WBBL team this season – I am looking forward to play with and compete with such experienced players at the top of the game.

“I know this opportunity will be a great experience and it will help me to raise my game to the next level.”

Cox will no doubt be able to learn from the experienced members of the team with the trio of Renee Busch, Julia Koppl and Judit Fritz all returning for another season.

The 16-year-old competed in the inaugural Hoopsfix Pro-Am this summer, going up against GB internationals and getting an early chance to play alongside new teammate Busch.
