The Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons are coming to Paris.
With London remaining out of favour, the NBA’s annual regular-season game in Europe will be held at the Accor Arena in the French capital on Thursday, January 19, 2023, the league has confirmed.
The NBA Paris Game 2023 will mark the Bulls’ third game in Paris, having played two preseason games in the French capital in 1997 when Michael Jordan-mania took over the city.
The Pistons will be playing their first game in France, having previously played regular season games in London (2013) and Mexico City (2019).
The NBA Paris Game 2023 will mark the first NBA game in Europe since 2020 and the league’s 12th game in France since 1991. Two years ago, the first regular-season NBA game in Paris featured the Charlotte Hornets and the Milwaukee Bucks with the excursion due to be held annually before Covid intervened.
Chicago Bulls Executive Vice President – Basketball Operations, Artūras Karnišovas, said: “It is a great honour to bring Chicago Bulls basketball back to Paris for The NBA Paris Game 2023 – an event that illustrates the league’s commitment to amplifying the national and global impact of basketball. Having played several games in Paris during my career, I know how special this will be for our players, our organisation, and our international fanbase.”
Added Detroit Pistons General Manager Troy Weaver: “The Detroit Pistons organisation is excited to take on the Chicago Bulls and play our first-ever game in France. Playing a regular-season game in Paris will be a great experience for our players and coaches and we look forward to showcasing Detroit Basketball to an international audience.”
Tickets for The NBA Paris Game 2023 will go on sale at a later date.
NBA Europe and Middle East Managing Director Ralph Rivera said: “The Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons are two of the most historic franchises in the NBA and feature an exciting mix of rising young players and established All-Stars. Welcoming the Bulls and Pistons to Paris for our second regular-season game will be a highlight for fans in France and across Europe, and with Paris hosting the Summer Olympics in 2024, basketball and the NBA are well-positioned for continued growth in France for years to come.”

We have a tiny favour to ask. In 2018 we set out to make Hoopsfix sustainable by building our relationship directly with our readers. Up until now, Hoopsfix has been creating editorials, videos and podcasts to provide sorely missing coverage of the British game and its distinct culture and community.
We have funded Hoopsfix with our freelance work creating basketball media, but sadly that means not only does it fall behind our client’s priorities, but some of those clients are the same organisations we need to report objectively on putting us in a conflicted position.
We want to devote more time to our mission of helping British basketball reach its potential, and produce even more content for the basketball community by making Hoopsfix a sustainable 100% independent business funded directly by our readers through Patreon.
If everyone who enjoys our content chose to support us, our future would be much more secure. For as little as $3 per month, you can support Hoopsfix – and it only takes a minute.
We are tremendously honoured and humbled to have a community of people who value what we do, and we look forward to being at the forefront of the British game as it continues to evolve.
