London Lions make EuroCup regular season debut in Germany

Check out London Lions in EuroCup Women action as they make their regular season debut on the road against German side Rutronik Stars Keltern on Thursday evening at 5:30pm UK time.

Mark Clark’s side overcame Gran Canaria, of Spain, in a two-legged triumph in the qualifiers and have won all four domestic games so far including a 2-0 start in the league.

“I think prep is going well for us. We’re getting used to playing with each other with the new signings that we have,” Shanice Beckford-Norton told Hoopsfix. “We really challenge ourselves in practice and we know what we have to be ready for in the regular season.

“One big thing for us is rebounding and then getting the ball in transition because that is when we score a lot of our points. It’s about creating second chance opportunities and playing our game.”

Beckford-Norton played for Heidelberg in the German top-flight in the 2019-20 season with Kennedy Leonard representing EuroCup side Herner, while Cassie Breen played for Freiburg in the same campaign. Leah McDerment also spent a couple of seasons in Germany with Bad Homburg, but missed the weekend game against Leicester through injury.

GB forward Shequila Joseph previously played for Keltern during the aforementioned 2019-20 season.
