SAMUELSON LOSES OUT AS EKAT REIGN
UMMC Ekaterinburg are the 2021 EuroLeague Women champions after a 78-68 win over Avenida Salamanca.
The Spanish side, including Great Britain guard Karlie Samuelson, did not adequately recover in Istanbul following a second period in which they were outscored 23-9.
And Breanna Stewart was named MVP with 12 points and six rebounds as the ever-powerful Russians completed a threepeat of continental titles.
Samuelson had seven points and five rebounds but missed out on becoming the first Brit to secure a men’s or women’s EuroLeague crown.
Earlier in the day, Final Four hosts Fenerbahce secured a third place finish with a 64-58 victory against Sopron.
