Hoopsfix All-Star Classic 2020 cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of the 2020 edition of the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Forever the optimists, we wondered whether there was a chance there may be an opportunity to make it happen on the originally scheduled weekend of May 30th and 31st but it has become increasingly apparent in recent weeks with government guidance, along with our venue Brixton Recreation Centre – and a number of our suppliers – remaining shut, that it will be impossible for it to go ahead in the near future.

The Hoopsfix All-Star Classic was founded to bring people together and celebrate British basketball culture and talent and though it may not be able to happen this year, we are looking at numerous other options for the Hoopsfix Foundation to contribute to the game this summer and considering whether to still do a selection of Hoopsfix All-Stars which we can recognise and pay tribute to virtually.

This has not been an easy decision to make, but the reality is people’s health has to come first and we have no other choice in the current situation.

I just want to thank you if you have supported the event in any way shape or form over the years, in particular the volunteers and all sponsors and partners we’ve had that have helped make it happen; Nike, Molten, SportServe, 5or6, Let Me Play and Always Ballin’.

We appreciate your never ending encouragement of our efforts to help grow the game and look forward to welcoming you back to Brixton Rec in 2021.

With gratitude,
