The Great Britain Under-16s were unable to get their Division B campaign off to a winning start with a 63-57 defeat at the hands of Finland on Thursday evening.
Michael Belle led GB with a 19 point, 14 rebound double-double, whilst Sultan Adewale had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
With neither team able to gain separation and Finland leading by two heading into the final period, GB were unable to stop a 9-2 run to open the final period that proved to be their undoing, as they went 1-of-21 from beyond the arc on the game, shooting 24% overall.
“We started the game well but from that point on we struggled offensively to find any rhythm,” Head Coach James Vear said. “There were some positives to take, we will build on those and learn from the mistakes going into the game against Slovakia.”
GB will look to bounce back when they take on Slovakia on Friday.
