SHAW’S WORCESTER EXIT FINALISED

Tony Garbelotto has been confirmed as Worcester Wolves head coach for the rest of the season.

The unsurprising news, made official in a club statement, brings the tenure of ex-Wolves player Ty Shaw to a formal end.

The American had been placed on sick leave since being hospitalised at half-time during a game at Sheffield Sharks in December.

It is understood that followed a confrontation in the locker room involving at least one player.

Subsequently Austria international Filip Kramer resigned from the BBL’s bottom-placed team.

The club said: “We can confirm that Ty Shaw will be leaving his role as Director of Basketball at the University of Worcester and head coach of the Worcester Wolves with immediate effect to focus upon family commitments at this time.

“We are grateful for Ty’s contribution and commitment since joining the University and Wolves in August 2018 and wish him well in the future. Tony Garbelotto will continue as interim coach for the remainder of the season.”

Worcester’s results have improved since the arrival of Garbelotto even if the Wolves are the longest of shots to reach the playoffs from their current 12th place.
