Charnwood College - Haris Tournament 2017 Winners

Charnwood College claimed the 2017 Haris Memorial Tournament title after defeating England Under-18s 83-64 in the final.

Sesan Russell had 25 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals in the championship game, picking up tournament MVP honours in the process.

Charnwood dominated the third quarter after a back-and-forth first half, outscoring the younger England side 22-8 to get a comfortable cushion that they would ride the rest of the way.

“Haris Tournament was a great event for our students,” Charnwood Head Coach Krumesh Patel commented after the event.

“It’s always great to take part in a international tournament and the guys did incredible to win it all. The staff did a really good running the tournament and I would like to thank them for the invite.

“Our players set themselves a goal and over the three days they took great strides as a team, this will only help them going into the second half of the year.”

Nial Harris added 12 points and 12 rebounds for Charnwood, Joe Bielak had 11, whilst Hosana Kitenge and Morgan Carter added 9 each.

Pierce Maslen led England with 17 points in just under 17 minutes, whilst Conroy Hayden had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
