Drew Sullivan Re-Signs with Leicester Riders on Two-Year Deal

GB Senior Men’s captain Drew Sullivan is staying at Leicester Riders after signing a new two-year-deal to remain at the club until at least 2018, the club announced today.

Sullivan was a key part of the Riders’ Championship and Trophy winning squad last season and averaged 12.7 points per game during the league/playoffs campaign as well as 6.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 32 outings.

The 36-year-old added to his extensive winners medal collection in the BBL and was also named Trophy Final MVP in helping Leicester to a first title in the competition.

And Riders Head Coach, Rob Paternostro, is understandably delighted to have Sullivan returning for another season.

“Drew is a player that I have great familiarity with after working with him for four seasons – you are always happy when you look out on to the floor and the number eight is wearing your colours,” he said.

“I thought he was one as good as any player in the league on both ends of the floor this season. I think his versatility and ability to impact the game in many ways is unique and is what separates him from a lot of players.

“He is able to lead the game and find the best way to impact it on a nightly basis. His ability gives a coach great luxury no matter what line up he has around him.

“We know that Drew is as competitive as anyone and has a passion for winning. He is someone that is excited about the future of the club moving forwards both on and off the court.”

Sullivan joins Tyler Bernardini as the second summer signing for the Riders with both players penning two-year deals to commit their future to the league champions.
