Kent Crusaders III Repeat as Founders Cup Champions

Kent Crusaders III retained the Founders Cup after a 70-55 victory over the Newcastle East Griffins at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Belle Vue, Manchester.

Leading by double-digits most of the way, the Crusaders never trailed despite being pegged back to 51-51 with 7:51 remaining in the fourth quarter thanks to a pull-up three from Newcastle’s Jamie Glen.

Kent, though, quickly recovered and a three-pointer from James Harris with just over five minutes left gave the Crusaders a 62-52 cushion, which they would not relinquish.

Paul Jessop was named MVP on his way to 15 points and 19 rebounds for Kent, while James Harris led the Crusaders with 17 points.

Glen paced Newcastle East Griffins with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Box score.
