Brits Abroad – Week 18 Recap

Here is our latest Brits Abroad round-up as we check in on the top Brits flying the flag overseas:

Luol Deng nearly produced a double-double in his latest outing with 15 points and eight rebounds in a 100-93 loss at home to LA Clippers having also tied his 2016 best of 17 points in an earlier 115-102 at Houston Rockets with Miami Heat going 2-2 in the week and now sit fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 29-23 record.

In Euroleague action, Joel Freeland finished with 13 points and six rebounds in a comfortable 59-94 success for CSKA with the British forward having only just returned from injury. Aaron Geramipoor stepped up for Soles (31-3) in Mexico with 24 points in a 71-70 victory with Matthew Bryan-Amaning playing limited minutes.

Meanwhile, Eric Boateng grabbed 10 rebounds and had seven points in another convincing win for Blois (17-3) as they extended their lead at the top of NM1 with the 87-48 win. In Germany, Gabe Olaseni shot 9-of-10 from the field for 18 points to play a key role in an 81-79 win for Giessen 46ers (9-11).

Dan Clark scored seven points as Andorra (9-10) produced a valiant display before going down 84-79 away at Euroleague giants, Barcelona. Also in Liga Endesa, Andrew Lawrence had five points in an 82-75 success for Gipuzkoa (4-15). Ben Mockford produced an efficient 21 points for Caceres (10-10), but his side were beaten 76-83 at home in LEB Gold, while Joe Hart landed five triples in a 17-point haul to guide Araberri (11-6) to a 75-91 LEB Silver victory.

Justin Robinson netted 20 points and dropped four dimes for Trikala (6-11), although they would fall to a heavy 115-79 defeat in the Greece A1. Devon Van Oostrum finished with eight points and six boards in an 89-76 loss for Arkadikos, while in A2, Fahro Alihodzic had 13 points in 16 minutes, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Promitheas (10-5) suffering an 85-75 reverse.

Ali Fraser grabbed six boards to go with four points in an 84-54 loss for Leeuwarden (6-11) in the Netherlands with Nigel Van Oostrum dishing out nine assists. In Slovenia, Jules Dang Akodo had 17 points along with seven rebounds and three assists to help LTH Castings (9-3) to a narrow 68-69 road victory.

Notes: Chris Caird expects to be out for the remainder of the season, after announcing he is to undergo surgery on a hip injury.
