Alex Young Breaks All-Time Assists Record at UC Irvine

Alex Young dished out two assists in a 78-53 loss at Kansas last night to surpass Raimonds Miglinieks’ record of 475 assists at UC Irvine.

The Senior guard – who became the 25th player in Anteater history to score 1000 career points earlier in the season – has taken his career assist tally to 476.

Young finished with eight points, four rebounds and two assists against Kansas, while fellow Brit Luke Nelson also netted eight points in the loss as UCI drop to 10-5 for the season.

The 21-year-old has provided a career-high of nine assists on two occasions at UCI with the most recent against Cal State Fullerton back in January 2014.

Young made his GB Senior debut last summer in a friendly against New Zealand and is in his third season as team captain for UC Irvine.

In 14 games so far this season, Young is averaging 8.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
