SULLIVAN BIDS LIONS GOODBYE

Drew Sullivan has confirmed he has parted company withÂ London Lions.Â

The long-time Great Britain captain claimsÂ “a decision taken by the London Lions management” has led to his departure, despite signing a two-year contractÂ with the British Basketball League outfit last summer.

But Sullivan, who will win his 100th cap for GB at the Copper Box later this month against New Zealand, has thankedÂ capital fans for their backing during his stint.

“I would like to thank all the Lions supporters for their support and encouragement throughout last season,” he said. “I have really enjoyed playing in my home town which has meant a lot to me.

“It is a shame that I will not be fulfilling my second year of my contract but that discussion has been taken out of hands and the Lions management have decided to move in a different direction.

“I would like to thank my team mates and the Lions’ fans for making my return home a special one. I would also like to wish the club all the best in the future”

Nigel Lloyd, who was appointed as Lions new head coach earlier this week, will now have to replace both Sullivan and Zaire Taylor in this summer’s re-building.

The former has been linked with a switch back to Leicester Riders with Taylor moving to France.
