There was a sense of déjà vu on the second day of the U20 European Championship Women Division B, for Great Britain.
After enjoying another very positive opening, the points dried up in the final quarter as Karen Burton and her side went down 33-30 to Austria in a defensively dominated contest.
Just like on the first day of the tournament, GB had found top gear from the tip-off.
They roared into a 14-3 lead, an advantage which was facilitated by then scoring the opening eight points, with Hannah Peacock once again impressing during the initial exchanges.
Austria then began to get a foothold in the game during the second period, but a Sadie Russell triple helped GB to restore a double-digit advantage at 22-12.
However Austria made their move either side of the break and slowly began to eat their way into the arrears during the third quarter.
They levelled matters early in the fourth period at 28-28 and with GB only able to sink a solitary basket during the last ten minutes, Austria were able to grind out a victory.
GB did a great job on the glass and looked after the ball well which were the positives, but couldn’t get anything to drop after their scorching start.
Hannah Peacock and Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby shared 20 boards to go with nine and seven points respectively.
