The Guardian has produced a video looking at the current state of British basketball, and where it can go from here – in which it is claimed ‘in 10 years, British basketball can be a major sport in the UK’.
Max Whittle speaks to some of the sport’s biggest names in the UK including GB captain Drew Sullivan, BBL coaches past and present Vince Macaulay, Rob Paternostro and Kevin Cadle as well as the league MVP Charles Smith to gauge their thoughts on the sport in this country.
“Regular TV coverage, bigger attendances, solid programmes within the clubs, and solid administration behind the scenes – that’s what I want to see over the next 10 years,” said Lions Head Coach Macaulay.
The video comes off the back of last weekend’s BBL Playoff Final, which attracted a record crowd of nearly 15,000 people at the O2 Arena in London.
