Ronnie Baker & Junior Williams Announced as U17 Coaches at Hoopsfix All-Star Classic

Brixton legends Ronnie Baker and Junior Williams have been chosen to lead the under-17 teams at the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic, on Saturday.

The veteran duo have a wealth of experience between them, and both recently announced the retirement from their playing careers.

Baker will take charge of the U17 White Team, and he returns to the Brixton Recreation Centre having begun his professional career over 30 years ago.

The 45-year-old is the most capped English player of all time, and finished his playing career this season with the Essex Leopards, where he won the NBL Division 1 title this season. He currently heads up DENG Academy in Brixton.

The White Team, that includes last year’s U16 MVP, is as follows:

  • Jacob Iwowo, 6’5″, G, Lewisham Thunder
  • Luke Mitchell, 6’0″, G, Nottingham Hoods
  • Micah Savery-Richards, 6’3″, G/F, Leeds Force

Meanwhile, former Brixton point guard and England international Junior Williams will lead the opposition Black Team. He coached the Westminster Warriors from D3 to D1 in four years and earned a Coach of the Year award in the process.

He’s no stranger to the Classic, heading up one of the U26 teams last year, while now leads Kennington Generals in South London.
