With the thirteenth week of the college basketball season completed, we take a look at all the top performing Brits in NCAA Division 1 in the past seven days.
Teddy Okereafor held his nerve at a critical time to sink two free throws to send another Rider home game into overtime. The junior guard would go on to finish with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists as his side claimed an 85-77 win against the defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champions, Manhattan.
Okereafor played 44 minutes of action with no other team-mate featuring for more than 35 minutes
Will Saunders netted 4-5 from 3-point range on his way to an 18-point haul, whilst adding 8 rebounds and 2 blocks in an 83-72 win for Charleston Southern. Junior forward Jesse Chuku scored 11 points in a win for Lehigh, before adding 5 points and 7 rebounds as the Mountain Hawks made it four straight victories.
UC Irvine are now 7-2 in the Big-West Conference after beating Long Beach State 56-55 on the road. Luke Nelson scored 7 points in the win, while Alex Young missed the game due to a left-foot injury. Ben Lawson played 33 minutes in a 72-68 loss for Western Kentucky against Rice with the 7’0″ centre contributing 3 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Kingsley Okoroh grabbed 6 boards and added 4 points and 2 blocks as Cal Bears defeated UCLA 64-62, while Jamie Batish scored 9 points and had 4 rebounds in a 77-67 defeat for Western Illinois – their third loss in a row. Gabe Olaseni contributed 7 points (3-3 FG) and 4 boards in a win for Iowa last weekend, before adding 2 points and 4 rebounds in a following loss to Minnesota.
Chris Caird added 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in a 60-54 win for Drake against Bradley.
