Brits Abroad – Week 16 Round-up

Week 16 of our Brits Abroad round-up taking a look at the action overseas from the past seven days.

Luol Deng scored a 2015 high 25 points in a 95-83 win against Sacramento, whilst adding 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. The 29-year-old also scored 19 in a previous loss at Golden State. Joel Freeland remains out for Portland, with a shoulder injury.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu produced a dominant display with 31 points (13-15 FG) and 14 rebounds leading AEK Athens (6-7) to an 89-79 home win, with a number of dunks on display. Ogo Adegboye collected 3 rebounds and dished out 5 assists as Aris (7-5) defeated AGOR (7-6) 68-62. Nigel van Oostrum had a similar stat-line in Holland with 3 rebounds and 5 assists in a 94-83 loss for Leeuwarden (4-10).

Ashley Hamilton had a huge game in Ukraine after guiding Cherkasy (12-8) to a 100-91 victory at the weekend. The GB forward shot 8-10 from the field and 10-11 from the foul line to finish with a game-high 29 points as well as adding 5 boards, 7 assists and 3 steals. After back-to-back 40+ games last week, Ryan Richards was at it again, scoring 33 points on 11-13 FG shooting whilst adding 12 rebounds in another win for Kormend (5-10).

Kyle Johnson scored 13 points in a 113-109 win for Brampton A’s (11-10) despite their opponents scoring 75 points in the second half. The GB guard followed that with 7 points and 5 rebounds in a second victory for the Canadian side. Matthew Bryan-Amaning scored 14 points as Soles (22-10) fell to a surprising defeat, before bouncing back to win comfortably on the road with MBA starring with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Dan Clark scored 8 points as Fuenlabrada (4-13) fell to a defeat on the road against Valencia. In LEB Gold, Devon van Oostrum made his debut for Penas Huesca (5-11) and scored 9 points in a 74-58 loss. Meanwhile, Will Neighbour scored 9 points (3-3 FG) and had 3 rebounds as Oviedo (7-10) recorded an 87-78 victory.

Myles Hesson finished with 12 points and 4 rebounds in a 90-84 road loss for Bremerhaven (5-13) in the Beko BBL. With minutes evenly distributed in a comfortable 94-70 win for Iserlohn (13-2), Orlan Jackman contributed 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Jules Dang Akodo led Fraport Skyliners II (7-8) to a 75-73 victory with 16 points and 4 steals, while Robert Gilchrist scored four points in a slender 87-84 home loss for Karlsruhe (9-6).

Eric Boateng‘s double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds helped Mulhouse (5-10) to a 75-67 victory in NM1 action. Tafari Toney had 20 points and 7 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for Sorgues (7-10) as they suffered a 67-61 loss.

Yokohama (5-22) split a pair of games with Shinshu at the weekend with Dzaflo Larkai coming up with 20 points and 9 rebounds in the victory having had 8 and 11 the day before. Apollon (7-5) were beaten 89-68 by AEK with Justin Robinson scoring 13 points (3-5 from 3-point range) in the defeat. In Denmark, Liam Potter grabbed four rebounds and went 1/4 from the free throw line in an 80-78 defeat for Svendborg (11-6).
