Luol Deng scored 19 of his 26 points in the first half and the Heat watched Charlotte miss three potential go-ahead shots in the final seconds on the way to beating the Hornets 94-93 on Sunday night and snapping a three-game home slide.
“We did it together, we really moved the ball well,” Deng said after the game (video below). “They had their run but we needed games like this. We’ve been losing a lot of close games and I think this is part of the growth. You don’t want it to be this close but it’s definitely an experience that, we’re gonna be in a similar situations, so even though Al got that tip and it looked like it was gonna go in, at the end of the day a win is a win.”
Deng went 10/14 from the field and added 8 rebounds and 3 assists along with 1 blocked shot. Fourteen games into the season with the 8-6 Heat, he is averaging 14.7ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.5apg.
