Ryan Richards Joins Kormend Following Vienna Release

Ryan Richards has joined EuroChallenge side EGIS Kormend in Hungary after leaving Zepter Vienna last week.

The former GB U20 star had made a strong start to the season in the Austrian Bundesliga, putting up 20.2 points per game to help his side to a 4-1 record early on.

However, Vienna’s Head Coach announced the departure of Richards citing ‘sporting differences’ as the reason behind the mutual split. And now Richards is off to Hungary to try and help Kormend improve upon their 0-3 start to the campaign.

Kormend will also be competing in the EuroChallenge – the third tier of European competition – with the tournament starting in early November.

Richards adds another team to the growing list during his pro career having played around the world in Spain, Georgia, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Greece and the UAE. The 23-year-old was a second round draft pick for the San Antonio Spurs back in 2010 and is capped at GB Senior level.
